Abstract: The urban growth and development of recent years in the Balearic Islands generates great pressure on local authorities, which are responsible for granting licenses in accordance with a wide and dispersed regulation. There are many occasions when, once the license has been granted, defects or anomalies are observed that the administration itself has to correct. It is also noted that sometimes the institute of ex officio review is resorted to too easily, without the specific causes for declaring the full nullity of the license. In this chronicle a casuistic reference is made to expose the criterion followed by the Advisory Council in certain cases in which the administration proposes the annulment of the license due to the existence of an invalidating defect of the same.
