Case-law of the Spanish Constitutional Court on local law

Juan Antonio Xiol Ríos
Abstract

This article –an update of the text published in the QDL 36– analyzes the case-law of the Spanish Constitutional Court on local law. The case law has strengthened the local autonomy at the political, legal, economic and procedural levels; has established a complicated scheme of shared competences between the State and the Autonomous Communities; and has stressed with some moderation the democratic principle at the local level.
